About this textbook

These lecture notes are based on several courses which have been taught by both the authors at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň and at the Charles University in Praha. The text is divided into two parts. In the first part which consists of Chapters 1-3, a brief self-contained exposition of basic results of the linear theory and of the calculus in the normed linear spaces is given. The main second part which consists of Chapters 4-7, is devoted to a transparent explanation of relevant contemporary methods for solving nonlinear problems in analysis. These methods are demonstrated on elementary ordinary and partial differential equations.

This textbook is suitable not only for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate courses but also for the independent study of scientists and engineers who want to be acquainted with the methods of nonlinear analysis.

The hard copy of the lecture notes can be purchased from the Department of Mathematics directly. For the details, please, contact Ms.Iva Sulkova, e-mail: iva@kma.zcu.cz
