Teaching
Girg
teaches a wide range of courses, many that relate to his current research. He
is
currently
co-advising two master theses, both closely related to above mentioned project
-
one
nonlinear elliptic PDE the other is focused on advanced statistical methods
applied to
social
and medical sciences (here he advises numerical solution of extended systems of
equations
and concurrent programming).
Girg
serves as project manager for {http://webmath.zcu.cz}. This project provides
computational
background for performing large numerical experiments and also supports
teaching
mathematics by providing web-based computational applications. The system is
heavily
used by students for verifying their works and processing experimental data
obtained
in laboratories. A student working on this project, Josef Otta, won 2nd
--- 3rd
prize
at the conference SCRA 2006 held in Tomar, Portugal, in the student competition
devoted
to undergraduate research; he works in strongly nonlinear equations of elliptic
type.
